Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou was left happy at seeing the return of midfielder David Turnbull for the first since December in yesterday’s 4-0 win over Ross County.

Turnbull has been out of action since picking up an injury in the Premier Sports cup final victory against Hibernian just before Christmas.

However, after an emphatic performance, which saw the Hoops race into a three goals lead before adding a fourth in the second half, it allowed the opportunity for the Scotland internationalist to get a run out after his long layoff.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Postecoglou was pleased, given he was able to stick to the plan of getting Turnbull action after his hard work on the training ground over the past ten days.

“That was the plan today. He has worked hard in training in the last seven to 10 days. It was good to get him out there, and he was pleased to get a run.

“Now, it is a case of building him up.”

The return of Turnbull comes at an ideal point in the season, with some crucial fixtures to come, which could prove pivotal in deciding where the Premiership title ends up.

He also adds to the quality options which Ange has at his disposal, which was made evident on Saturday afternoon as the Celtic boss was able to rotate his entire midfield with the substitutes made.

The 22-year old now has the opportunity to build up his sharpness and fitness over the international break, preparing for the trip to Ibrox at the beginning of April.
