BRENDAN RODGERS has revealed he’s looking to get his transfer shopping done at the very start of January so he has the players he wants when the bhoys fly out to Dubai.

There is mystery surroundingĀ Celtic’s transfer dealings with the Celtic boss admitting he met with an unnamed player and his representatives on Monday, under 24 hours after Celtic had won the League Cup.

The fact the Irishman isn’t taking time to reflect or celebrate and immediately flew down to London to speak to a target tells you how serious the manager is taking the January window.

Speaking about the prospect of getting players in Rodgers said:

“Every manager will tell you that you want to get deals done early if you can.”Ā Rodgers told RecordSport.

ā€œIdeally, you want to take players away to your mid-season training camp, bed them in, do some good work with them and get some feel for mentality.

ā€œThat is ideally what you want to do. So we will see.ā€

It’s thought the defence is a priority for the Celtic manager with Lustig coming to the end of his contract this summer, same with Gamboa. Not only that but Flip Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata are likely to leave the club this summer too, the only survivor of the current Celtic defence looks to be Kieran Tierney right now.
