ATLETICO MADRID are eyeing up a £10m+ deal for Celtic’s Croatian star Josip Juranovic according to a fresh report.
In the know journalist David Friel of SunSport has been tipped off that the Spaniards are very keen on securing Juranovic in the January window and could be ready to splash the cash.
Celtic have clearly been tipped off before now that the interest in Josip is high. It’s not even January yet and we’ve signed another right back in anticipation of bid for Josip.
Even though Celtic are fully prepared to sell Juranovic, they won’t let him go for cheap. £10m seems cheap for a World Cup quarter finalist. It’s more likely Celtic would push for a figure between £12-£15m plus add-ons.
The ball is firmly in Celtic’s court. Juranovic has a deal in place with the club until 2026. If Atletico want the defender that bad, they will have to get out the cheque book.
Celtic are in Portugal at the moment, going through a mini pre-season in the hot weather while Scotland freezes. The Scottish Champions are due back in Scotland next week and have Aberdeen away a week on Saturday. Finally, the real football is back.
Josip won’t be a part of that Celtic squad due to players being allowed a break in between a World Cup exit and returning to domestic action.
