The news breaking over the Easter weekend Dominic McKay is set to leave the SRU early and become the new chief executive of Celtic should be good news for every Hoops supporter.

We have been banging the drum had Dominic started when he was scheduled to at the start of July, it gave him very little time to do much before Celtic’s qualifiers and SPFL campaign got underway.

He’s now scheduled to come in this week according to RecordSport and that decision could make all the difference.

Starting three months early will allow Peter Lawwell to do an orderly and professional handover.

The move will also mean Dom and the new manager can create a good rapport before the season begins. With Kennedy in charge of the first term until the end of the campaign and Lawwell still in the building, McKay will have a free run at getting business done.

The more preparation we have in place for next season, the better.

  2. To continue from my previous comment from your piece about Broonie, maybe if this had happened a few weeks ago Broonie would’ve stayed and The Club would have had the chance to benefit from the most successful and experienced
player in the country, as would any new players coming to Celtic and the youth set up in the future.
