CELTIC are hot on the heels of a new right-back signing which would see the bhoys spend some serious cash to beef up their backline.

Brendan Rodgers has been looking for a new full-time right-back since the summer and thought he had one with Cristiano Piccini, but with the deal being close to completion the defender opted to join Celtic’s February Euro rivals Valencia at the eleventh hour.

Now it looks like the Celtic manager is stepping up his efforts and reports today suggest he is serious about a move for Atalanta full-back Timothy Castagne.

Timothy, 23, has made his debut for Belgium in September this year and has two caps to his name.

The defender moved to the Italian side back in 2017 for a reported €6million and has played 39 times for Atalanta.

Before that, the player played 99 games for Genk and would be someone who would be ready to go straight into the Celtic team should the board land the defender.

Reports at RecordSport claim it would take upward of £5-6million to land Timothy. Will Celtic show their ambition and back Brendan Rodgers?
