Celtic are looking to sign young Sligo Rovers striker Johnny Kenny ahead of the January window opening in two weeks time.

According to reports in Ireland, the frontman is being chased by Hibernian and Celtic and the player is already in Scotland for talks with both clubs. Kenny was spotted at the Hibernian game on Tuesday night.

Founder of the popular ‘Irish Fan TV’ Paul Nealon has revealed the Hoops are keen on the forward.

The 18-year-old would most certainly be a player who would be signed to play in the B team for now.

Celtic are trying to rebuild their youth system at the same time as doing a massive first team rebuild.

We need more talented young players in our system who can potentially make the step up over the next two years.

Hibernian don’t have a manager at the moment but still look to be chasing Kenny. There’s more chance of first team football sooner in Edinburgh than there is in Glasgow.

It’ll be interesting to see if Johnny signs for either club in the coming days.
