CELTIC could be set to announce their first signing of the summer after reports the club are close to agreeing terms with Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull as reported by RecordSport.

The club had a bid accepted on Wednesday evening for the 19-year-old and the two parties have been thrashing out the finer details of his Celtic contract.

If the bhoys can get the deal over the line by the weekend, there’s every chance Turnbull will be at Lennoxtown on Monday when the squad returns for pre-season training.

Neil Lennon will start to assess his squad next week as he looks to make big decisions on some of the bhoys’ future.

Their first pre-season game is at the end of July and by that point, every player should be back in training with the international Celts getting a little extra time off to get a well needed break seeing as it’s only been three weeks since Celtic won the treble treble.
