Celtic are close to announcing a new Director of football who will effectively be Lee Congerton’s replacement according to Sports journo Alan Nixon.

The club have been searching for a new man to take the lead in transfers since Rodgers appointed man Congerton left to join the Irishman at Leicester.

Celtic need a man who knows what he’s doing after having to suffer through Lee’s reign at the club.

According to Nixon, the new Celtic DOF will be Nicky Hammond formerly of West Brom and Reading – he reports in SunSport

The club have been struggling trying to get deals over the line and having a man in to do most of the work and get deals over the line will be very welcome.

Hammond comes with a decent experience but he was sacked from his position at West Brom.

Time will not be on his side with regards to Europe. The club have just two weeks to sign players to be eligible for the first round of Champions League qualifiers.
