It’s been in the rumour mill for quite some time but according to reports, Celtic are closing in on a deal for striker Kyle Joseph.

Football Insider is reporting the FIFA enforced compensation fee for the 19-year-old will be around £300k if the bhoys manage to pull off the deal.

Joseph has already been offered a deal by the Hoops but there are other clubs interested in his services for next season.

Celtic aren’t hanging around waiting on appointing a new manager before signing young talent. They don’t want to miss out on any potential deals while they decide who the next man in charge is going to be.

Joseph is a top prospect but he’s not going to be a first team star straight off the bat.

It begs the question, do these players do their homework. If you can’t get into the Celtic first team squad, you’re pretty much in limbo until you’re loaned out.

There has been a slow exodus of players from the academy over the last two years. Cameron Harper was the latest to leave and there’s likely going to be more upheaval in the summer when contracts come to an end.
