Celtic are reportedly closing in on the appointment of Fergal Harkin as the club’s Director of Football.

According to Football Insider, the deal to bring Harkin to the club is ‘90% done’ with the club looking to move forward with the rebuild for the coming season.

Harkin was one of the first names to be linked with the job and it appears he could be on the way soon.

Currently, the Irishman is the Football Partnerships manager at English Premier League giants Manchester City, who of course, have had a close relationship with Celtic over the last few years with several players making the move to Scotland from City.

It is also expected that Harkin will bring a host of names from the Manchester City backroom staff, including several analysts from the club.

This sort of move feels like an exciting one as the club prepare to move forward with the rebuild and into more of a modern football club with the set up they are currently building.

When Harkin is officially in his role, it is likely he will play a key role in appointing the new manager of the club, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that done shortly after.

  1. Looks a good move but all things just now we’ll just have to hope this gets done without the communication we’d like to have. But there’s times you need to make sure you don’t show your hand too quickly. Hope that’s the reason as the re-build needs to get going asap.
