It’s being reported in Israel that Celtic are closing in on their first major summer signing.

One.Co.Il is reporting today that the Hoops are close to a deal for winger Liel Abada from Maccabi Petah Tikva.

The publication claims the midfielder, 19, is currently in France but will soon be on a flight to London and then onto Glasgow to complete a move to Celtic.

The winger is predominantly right-sided and if Celtic were to wrap up a deal for the player – it would surely spell the end of Marian Shved’s ill-fated time at the club.

Here’s what the Israeli report said: [Translated by Google].

Liel Abda (Dan Yidov)

‘Liel Abda, a star of Maccabi Petah Tikva, is on his way to becoming a player for Celtic, the Scottish runner-up. Already last night we announced that Celtic are willing to pay for Abda 4 million euros’

Liel has also just started following his compatriot Nir Bitton on social media which is another subtle hint he’s on his way to the club.

Celtic have not spent any real money in this transfer window yet but they could be set to open the cheque book for Lial shortly.

We will keep you up to date as this one progresses.

It was only last night on SunSport the news broke that familiar agent Dudu Dahan and Celtic were in contact over the player.

The winger has played 76 times for Maccabi Petah Tikva, scoring 20 goals and grabbing 10 assists.

  1. No disrespect but could we not do with some “older” players. There again maybe Ange can see them coming in and doing the job. I’ll bow to his far better experience than mine. Do wish he was getting some Japanese players, there were couple mentioned just after he took over but that seems to have gone very quite. After watching them on YouTube was looking forward to move happening. Maybe later once he’s well established, or the board open the purse strings.
