According to the Evening Times, a permanent deal for French Eddie is getting closer by the minute.

The young French star who has had a blistering end to his loan spell at Celtic Park is coveted by Brendan Rodgers as a full time Celtic player.

The striker has dropped a few hints lately that he knows where he’ll be next season and told Celtic fans it’s the beginning of a long story at the club.

With Celtic having first option on the star until the end of May and PSG more than willing to let the player go for the right price – it’s believed Celtic will break their transfer fee to land Le Skelper.

Many believed that when Rodgers rubbished reports about Edouard’s buy out clause that it was actually lower than the £7million quoted – apparently it’s higher.

Celtic are looking to come in below the buy out clause but any deal will likely surpass Martin O’Neill’s big spending in the early 2000s when he signed Chris Sutton for £6million from Chelsea.
