Celtic have reportedly made a breakthrough in their search for a goalkeeper. The club have been weighing up their options since a deal to bring back Fraser Forster stalled and according to a ‘Celtic source’ the bhoys are making progress with a deal for Joe Hart.

The free agent left Burnley this summer but has been on a downwards trajectory ever since Pep gave Hart the shove at Manchester City.

If reports are true, the 33-year-old could soon be pulling on a Celtic jersey.

Football insider writes:

“A Celtic source has told Football Insider that manager Neil Lennon has had multiple conversations with Hart and discussions are progressing well.”

Any goalkeeper coming in will have to fight it out with Scott Bain for the number one spot.

If Celtic are in dialogue with Hart it could spell the end of any deal for Fraser Forster. Unless the club are potentially using these talks to push Fraser into a decision about his future.

Stevie Woods has worked wonders with goalkeepers down the years and if Hart does come in, he’ll have a hell of a job trying to re-build the Englishman’s confidence.
