JOHN KENNEDY has taken some veiled digs at Norwich bound David Turnbull as he spoke to CelticTV. The Celtic first team coach was fielding question about Celtic’s failed attempts to lure the Motherwell youngster to Celtic Park and while he admitted the lad has talent he suggests he doesn’t have the right mindset.

“It all comes down to a player’s idea of what he wants and the representative who is advising him in that respect.

“If you do well at this club, the world is your oyster and that’s what we wanted to give him, but they chose not to take our offer.

“It’s not one we are going to lose too much sleep over.

“It’s also not just about talent. You need players with the right mindset who are hungry to come into be successful and be part of something successful.

“Players coming in have to have the right attitude and have the right motives.

“When you do that, normally, you get a good player.

“It depends on the individual. What’s their motive? What are they looking to get out of it?”

Kennedy is part of Neil Lennon’s coaching staff alongside Damien Duff for the new season after helping with the interim role last term.

The club are in a poorer position than they should be in terms of where the squad is at. With Celtic’s resources and the amount the club has won over the past three years you would think we’d be virtually untouchable. Mismanagement from the top over the past 18 months has meant Celtic have fell away in terms of performance.

Players have been leaving the club this summer in their droves while there’s nobody through the door as of yet. Celtic basically need to bring in a new defence at a minimum.

Lennon wanted Turnbull but we have to press on with other targets.
