The SFA are apparently stalling over a rule change to the Scottish Lowland League that would allow the SLFL to nominate their champions to contest a pyramid play-off against the winners of the Highland league.

However, both Glasgow clubs are exempt from promotion and are only one season guests in the league at present. If the new rule can’t be voted through, the two clubs face suspension from the league with all results to this point for both sides being null and void if a solution is not reached.

Tommy McIntrye and his side have been making steady progress in the league and currently sit 6th in the table with a couple of games in hand.

The Lowland league have no desire to suspend the two clubs if they don’t absolutely have to with attendance up at games and money coming in.

The league has set a deadline of 5pm on Friday to come up with solutions to put to the SFA. Vice-Chairman of the league Graeme Mullan sent out this communication to all league participants: ‘We are now faced with a major decision on how to gain the Scottish FA approval of the rules that were adopted at the AGM in May 2021. The alternative to this is to refer back to version 15 of our rules, which would regretfully involve the suspension of the guest clubs and the voiding of all associated results to date. ‘Based on this information, I ask that all clubs spend the next few days seriously considering the situation with a view to providing a club perspective to the Board and new Chairperson.’

We’ll keep you up to date with what’s going on. A suspension would be a massive blow to Celtic’s youth set up.

  1. The SFA seem to be incompetent and utterly deficient in the required talent to oversee and improve the whole of Scottish football. They are the dinosaurs of the football world and should be replaced ASAP.

  2. Rules are made to be broken. But not this one. Give the other teams your finest of the colts. And let them enter the third division under their own merit. And when did Celtic become a top gun La Liga Espania type team??
Do like Robert the Bruce did, and think again.
