When it comes to how football will look next season – we really can’t give a definitive answer at the moment. We have witnessed major crowds at the Euros in the UK and Europe over the past month. Hampden has had a 12k crowd in for games, Murrayfield got 16k for a Rugby match but Celtic and other football clubs have to contend with just 2k for their pre-season home game.
Celtic will welcome Preston to Glasgow on Saturday where 2000 lucky fans will get the opportunity to watch a football match at Celtic for the first time since March 2020.
The club’s hands are tied by the government and while we know the Preston game will only be 2000, Celtic can’t even say with confidence what happens after that.
The Hoops have a qualifier against Midtjylland next week and right now, the club can confirm they have no idea what crowd they will have for the game.
We don't have any approvals at present Sean so will need to wait until we get notification that we can get fans in and how many, I expect we'll know more after the next Scottish Gov update tomorrow

Scotland is supposed to go to Level 0 next week, but Nicola Sturgeon will outline if that’s possible in a Tuesday statement to parliament. Celtic and other football clubs will not get a heads up and will likely find out at the same time as we all do what the numbers can be.
If we do go to level 0 we could see a Hampden type Euro crowd for the first competitive game of the season. If things are pushed back, it might still be just 2000, or none at all.
I couldn’t get my head round the discrepancies until the penny dropped.
Hampden with 12k and Murrayfield with 16k were one off games. Pre season games will be going on all over the country. Multiple games. That’s the thinking.
The ‘virus’ doesn’t turn up for the Euro’s or competitive matches as the volatile atmosphere inhibits it’s spreading power.
It targets friendly games, where the atmosphere is more relaxed and people let their guard down knowing that nothing is at stake, thus making it a perfect breeding ground for ‘infection’
Something like that anyway.
If the guy in the suit on the BBC News told you the above, you’d believe it.
If you could point out where I said I agreed with it? I’ll wait.
It’s pretty obvious that the vast majority do.
Apologies to you for my assumption.
Scottish gov are not interest in football as the proved don’t have police power to control large crowds what happen when rangers won the league and not blame the club it shows they don’t have the balls to run a country the cut police man power now we see gangs running running through middle of town with knives not one police there plus there is no deterrent anybody found guilty of a violent act should be punished by taken there liberty away either jail or tag and what she is doing with celtic supporters who have behaved well is petty we all suffer for rangers we are different do not tar us with the same brush
If Celtic had won 10 in a row tell us again how much different the celebrations would have been?
Th only football club the Scottish government (wee free’s) are interested in stopping is Celtic.!!! Yes hey stopped Aberdeen , but have had numerous times to punish the club at ibrokes, but have constantly refused to do ! Yes, back to the same old same old, one rule for free masons/ orange order, and another for us!!.Come on Celtic board, sand up for our club, and let them know how we feel.!!!
