Celtic go into today’s Glasgow Derby looking to bounce back from January’s defeat at Ibrox, knowing that a win will put them just two games away from securing their fourth consecutive league title.
The Hoops sit 16 points clear, but their preparations have been hit with two huge setbacks.
Callum McGregor, who had been battling a calf issue all week, has failed to make the starting squad. The Celtic captain was set to train with the squad on Saturday and was prepared to play through the pain barrier, but he has now been ruled out—a massive loss for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Defensively, Celtic have suffered another shock blow, with Auston Trusty also missing from the squad. With Liam Scales already ruled out due to a cheekbone injury, Trusty was widely expected to start in defence, but his absence leaves Rodgers with a major selection headache at the back.
Despite these setbacks, Celtic will be confident of getting the job done in front of a packed Celtic Park. For the first time since 2018, there will be a significant away crowd, with 2,500 fans in the corner of Celtic Park.
Celtic won’t want to be giving them anything to cheer about throughout the match.
Everyone has to step up for a derby match. Hopefully no more injuries from today’s combatants.
On either side. Don’t expect shirts to be exchanged.
But it would be nice.
This game needs more peace and understanding. Than Kick the Tim or hun Players aff tha park.
But it seems, it’s part of the furniture of this geme!!!!!!!!!!
