NEIL LENNON made it clear he wants an apology from Andy Walker before he or any of his players talk to Sky Sports in the near future. [Read Full Interview Here]

While the manager has his reasons, some legit, it’s something that could land the club in more hot water with the governing body.

We have looked at Celtic’s basic media requirements under the terms of their membership and it states very specifically what protocols should be followed.

Appendix 5, Section B of the SPFL Rulebook states the following:

B) At every League Match and Play-Off Match which is televised or in respect of which moving pictures are to be recorded by or on behalf of the Company, Clubs are required to:

(iii) : make available at least one Official on the football management or coaching staff of the Club and at least one Player who Played in the match for interview after the match within 30 minutes of the final whistle, giving priority to broadcast media partners of the Company with which the Company has a Commercial Contract for the purposes of Section I of these Rules who are broadcasting live (N.B. the League’s media guidelines to Clubs that post-match interviews should take place within 10 minutes of the final whistle).

There have been times in the past where Celtic and other clubs have not participated in this for one reason or another. Sky Sports can choose to take it up with the governing body, if they so wish, and Celtic would likely be brought before the SPFL to ask why they have broken the terms of their membership.

We would hope the club would make sure they had sufficient grounds to not partake in interviews before they allowed it to happen.

There could be a concession with John Kennedy taking the interviews.

  1. Fair does, but I don’t think it stipulates it has to be w@#ker.
I’m sure there are all sorts of legal reasons why any club could insist that a certain individual not interview their manager or players.

‘The Management Reserve the right’, and all that.
