Since joining the club in the summer transfer window, Kyogo Furuhashi has gone on to become a key cog in Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The frontman has already scored some crucial goals in games, including European fixtures. But even when he isn’t scoring, the work he puts in can’t be questioned, pressing opposition defences for the entire game.

With his performances, the 26-year old is also a regular within the Japanese national team squads, which have affected a couple of Celtic’s league fixtures down the line.

Japan are set to be in World Cup qualifying action, facing off against China and Saudi Arabia at the end of January.

These games clash with the Hoops return to League action, following the two-week break in January.

This would see Kyogo missing out on the sides trip to Tynecastle against Hearts and Dundee United at Parkhead in the same week.

However, as reported by Sun Sport, in Japan, the country has had to shut its borders due to new covid regulations, which could rule foreign-based players out of returning to their homeland for World Cup qualifiers.

The JFA also confirmed that if it came to it, the international side would be complying with the rules and only selecting those playing from within the J-League.

Our primary focus, for now, remains on the critical run of fixtures in December that could make or break our season in several different ways.

But, the second half of the campaign will also be just as crucial. So, fingers crossed we can have our best players available heading into the first few games after the winter break.
