CELTIC could be bold this summer and go and push the boat out to bring in a man they wanted back in January.

Celtic approached Timothy Castagne and Atalanta about a move to the Scottish Champions in the winter window but Castagne decided to stay put for the rest of the season.

The Belgian right-back is in demand with Atalanta asking for top dollar in January but it would appear Celtic could now get the player in a cut-price deal as Castagne enters the final year of his Atalanta contract.

The defender’s deal is up in 2020 and he was no shy in saying he could leave the club in the summer under the correct circumstances back in February.

Celtic could potentially land Timothy for around £5m if he refuses to sign a new Italian deal and finally solve their right back problem. Currently valued at €10m on TransferMarkt.com the 23-year-old has made 31 appearances for his club this season and is in the Belgian international side.

Jeremy Toljan is at Celtic on-loan from Dortmund at the minute but the deal hasn’t worked out with Neil Lennon preferring Lustig over the German.
