BRENDAN RODGERS spoke at the weekend about not being able to afford Oli Burke permanently and he will just look to utilise and help improve the player until he heads back down south this summer.

However, is there a way Celtic could land their man in the summer full time?

Burke is enjoying his football, getting regular game time and excelling under Brendan Rodgers. If the player was given the option in the summer, if it’s a purely football decision then we’d be seeing Oli in the Hoops for a long time to come.

However, it’s all about the money and how could Celtic fund this deal? Let’s forget we have sold Moussa Dembele for £22million and got a chunk of the Virgil van Dijk Liverpool fee without spending too much on actual transfer fees. Let’s say we need to raise some funds for a deal.

Would the sale of Olivier Ntcham look more attractive to people if the money was used to land Burke on a full-time basis?

Porto came in for the player last summer with Brendan Rodgers admitting it was a big offer. Should the club receive another top offer for the Frenchman, would it help or hinder the team in the long run.

Basically, we’re asking, who would you rather have in your side going forward next season. It’s easy at this point to say Burke after his St Johnstone heroics with Ntcham sidelines, but we must remember Olivier Ntcham has been brilliant for Celtic too.

If the likes of McGregor and Christie keep doing the business with Brown in midfield, could Celtic afford to let him go?

  1. Still a lot of games to be played before the suits decide who goes, and who is bought (or as a loanee) See how they all do when picked by St Brendan and co. And how they fare under pressure.
