It was last month since Kansas City and Scotland international Jonny Russell spoke about his desire to play for Celtic as he supported the club since he was a bhoy.

However, if he can’t play for them he’s going to support them and with the off season in America and the player still injured for international duty he has chosen to head to Italy to watch the bhoys in green.

One Celtic fan got a snap with the former Dundee Utd man outside the colosseum.

Russell, 29, started his career at Dundee Utd and has played down south for Derby before making his way to America back in 2018.

There was a time when rumours were rife Celtic would buy him from Dundee Utf but it never panned out that way. Jonny can play up front or either side of attacking midfield but Celtic have too many players in that position already.

He’ll be cheering on the Hoops tonight from the stands, hoping for a positive result.
