Trevor Sinclair has become a figure known well to Celtic supporters over the past few years with his endorsements of the Hoops on Twitter.

Sinclair had a great career in English football playing for sides such as Queens Park Rangers, West Ham United and Manchester City as well as being capped twelve times for England.

His love for the Hoops come from his parents with his mother hailing from Sligo and his step dad coming from Glasgow meaning that there was only really one side to support.

He is a regular contributor to talkSPORT and today had a jibe at Celtic’s league rivals after their defeat in Champions League qualifying to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise.

“They’ll be happy to go out”, said Trevor Sinclair speaking on talkSPORT as cited by Football Scotland.

He also couldn’t resist mentioning Celtic’s triumphant European Cup win in 1967.

“To be fair, the Champions League isn’t for everyone.

“Celtic obviously won that tournament and Rangers are happy in the Europa League, so they’ll probably be happy to go out.”

Celtic don’t have the worry of Champions League qualifying as they go straight into the tournament after winning the league title last season.

The hoops are yet to find out their fate for the competition with the draw not taking place until 25 August but will hope to make an impact in the tournament.

Fans are looking for European progress but are looking forward to once again hosting Europe’s elite clubs and letting ‘Angeball’ do it’s thing.
