Despite notching up their third treble in three seasons, injuries to Celtic players all last season plagued performances and created a false sense of competition domestically.

The Bhoys were forced to play key stars out of their natural position or else they needed to field reserve and youth players to plaster over their never-ending injury crisis. Tom Rogic was one player who suffered this injury curse and Neil Lennon has just confirmed with The Sun he is not out of the woods yet as the Wizard of Oz is set to miss out on the Celts opening Euro qualifier next week.

Lennon said: “Tom picked up an ankle injury in the Scottish Cup final and we knew he would be three to four weeks anyway. “He could do all his rehab work at home so he didn’t come to Austria.

“We are hoping that by the time we get back this week Tom will be back on the training ground. “He still had issues with his knee towards the end of last season and to be fair to the kid he probably needed a rest.

Celtic will line up against FK Sarajevo in just over a weeks time as they look to carve a passage to the Champions League group stages. Celtic have had some nightmare performances particularly away from home in qualifiers over the last decade. Neil Lennon will be looking to get the best start he can possibly have to take some of the early season pressure off.
