Romain Perraud was linked with Celtic over the summer and with good reason if the player’s recent comments are anything to go by.

The French left-back moved from Paris FC to Brest last month with Celtic seemingly missing out on the player. However, it has transpired that it was Celtic who pulled the plug on the deal with Perraud admitting the Scottish Champions ‘changed their mind’.

“I thought I had a good season with Paris. I knew I had qualities. I just wanted a chance to show them after being stuck in Nice reserves.” Perraud told SunSport.

“This summer, Celtic, Brest and Dijon all contacted me with a view to a transfer.\

“But Celtic decided to change their mind and that meant I was going to go to Brest instead.

“They are a great team with a good atmosphere in the squad and so I was happy to join this club.”

Celtic signed Boli Bolingoli this summer in the left back position but it was thought Perraud was being looked at as potential competition for the player if Kieran Tierney left this summer.

Perraud decided to move to Brest after Celtic lost interest and as he says, he’s quite content with his decision.

Celtic look like they will have to go into the market for a new defender with Kieran Tierney looking more and more likely to leave the club before 5pm today for a record breaking fee.
