KIERAN TIERNEY has been paid the ultimate compliment by being compared to the late great Tommy Burns by the manager.
The Celtic defender, whose stock rose further after Celtic’s latest Champions League outing was on the receiving end of some massive compliments from his manager when he spoke at a Q&A in Belfast.
“You saw against Bayern how he’s improving with how he’s being asked to play in Europe. If he ever goes in the future, he knows when he leaves here, he’s playing the game tactically and technically at the top level.
“But at this moment, he’s 20, he’s loving his development here and he’s Celtic daft. You can see him in it. The last ones you saw like that are the likes of Tommy Burns, or Peter Grant. He’s so passionate about it.”
Kieran recently sealed a new six-year deal with the club after a string of top performances. He’s delighted to commit his long-term future to his bhoyhood club.
Brendan and Kieran both have the opportunity to be part of history on Saturday if they avoid defeat they will break Willie Maley’s 100 plus year old record of 62 games undefeated domestically.
Not too bad for two self-admitted Celtic fans.
