Celtic defender Nir Bitton has suffered yet another injury setback, picking up a slight groin tear whilst on international duty with the Israel national side that has forced him to return to Glasgow early.

As reported by Sun Sport, Bitton will miss his country’s next two international fixtures due to injury, including the game against Scotland tomorrow evening.

The 29-year old hasn’t featured for the Hoops since the end of January in the 2-1 loss to St Mirren but did recently return to the bench in the last fixture against Rangers.

This will come as a frustration to not only Bitton after almost two months out of action due to an ankle ligament injury but also Celtic with him picking up this injury whilst away on international duty.

As much as some fans may feel that Bitton can be inconsistent at times, it is another defender who has picked up an injury which is could be a concern as we head into the final five games of the season with our limited numbers, as well as making a possible run for the Scottish Cup.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Bitton going forward with the up-and-coming rebuild in the summer.
