We haven’t seen much of the Weeman so far this time around but during his tenure at the club, Emilio Izaguirre has seen a lot of player turn over.

The Celtic let back has been at the club nine seasons and it would have been more had he not moved on last season.

Asked by the Celtic View of who Izzy holds in high regard during his two stints at the club, the interviewer might have regretted asking the question because he had a lot of people to mention.

Some big players for the club and well, some not so big.

Remember Efrain Juarez? Emilio does!

“I have a lot of friends here. When I came in 2010, Shaun Maloney supported me a lot.” Izzy exclaimed.

“After that, players like Marc Crosas, Efrain Juarez, Gerogios Samaras, Gary Hooper – a lot of players were very good with me

“Scott Brown, I’ve been with him for nine seasons and I get on so well with him.

“Every year new players come in, and you get friendly with them too. I was with Efe for five years, he’s my brother, and Victor Wanyama.

“For two years, I’ve made good friends with Cristian Gamboa – I could go on, it’s a big list. Some people would get angry if I left them out.

“I have good relationships with everyone”

Victor Wanyama was a massive player for Celtic during Neil Lennon’s run. Coming in with little reputation, the big man helped put Barcelona to the sword and scored on the night Celtic famously beat the Catalans.

Efe was in that team too and despite his reputation as a little bit of a bomb scare, he was sensational that night also and is a cult hero to the fans to this day.

Sammy, Hooper and Maloney all have their place in Celtic history as does Izzy.

Gamboa has not got a lot of game time over the time he’s been at the club but has always come off as such a positive person – much like Emilio.

Efrain Juarez came into Celtic and he didn’t do much before moving on. Well, he made friends with Izzy!
