Celtic have done the correct thing by deleting a post that promotes a debt collection company in the UK.

We reported earlier this morning many fans weren’t happy with the decision by the club to celebrate Celtic’s first major trophy on this day in 1892 but then advertise a debt collector at the bottom of the graphic.

Given Celtic’s charitable and compassionate roots, to celebrate our first major trophy while advertising a company that chase people for money causing stress and misery is not something Celtic should be associated with.

Celtic’s SLO put it down to a third party company controlling small advertisers on the club’s social media feeds for the fact it made it through.

Hoops supporters rightfully called it out and now the post has been taken down.

We need to be aware of our brand, and what we stand for as a club. Yes, we’ve moved on from the days of our initial charitable roots but to go that step further and promote a debt collection agency is tone-deaf.

Hopefully someone at the club runs an eye over these things in future.
