JOE LEDLEY confirmed to the Huddle Podcast on Tuesday he had a request denied by the club over the past two years just to come up and train while he looked for a new club.

The former Celtic hero was out of the game for a while and when Neil Lennon first came back into the fold Joe apparently reached out to see if he could get back up to full fitness at his old club.

“I know Lenny would have had me up any day  for training but Things weren’t allowed”

“I think they didn’t want the hassle of the media speculating about me coming in and signing or not if I was training”

Joe had a great time at Celtic and was a big player during Neil Lennon’s first stint in charge of the Hoops.

He scored some pivotal goals and was a bargain for the club on a free transfer from Cardiff.

“I haven’t been back at Celtic Park since I left, hopefully, I’ll get back there soon.” Joe Added.

It’s unfortunate the club didn’t allow Joe to come up and train. You see it all the time at clubs up and down the country, former players just getting up to speed before heading out and finding a new club.

Celtic allowed Charlie Mulgrew to train with the bhoys at the start of the Brendan Rodgers era even though the player’s contract came to an end.

Joe is back in Wales playing for Newport County at the moment with his career winding down.

It’s clear the Welshman has a massive affinity for the club after his stay in Glasgow.
