FK Sarajevo keeper Vladan Kovacevic has stated Celtic did not deserve their win against his side in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier.

The bhoys ran out 3-1 winners after an early scare when Sarajevo took the lead. Kovacevic was beaten three separate times on the night but feels Celtic weren’t good value for their win because of the lack of chances they created.

Surely the fact we didn’t have too many chances and still scored three shows our superiority but when you have been beaten convincingly sometimes it’s hard to accept.

The goalkeeper told SunSport: “In my opinion, Celtic did not deserve to win because they didn’t create that many chances.

“I think we were shaken when they equalised so quickly after we had taken the lead. We were unlucky they scored a third goal.

He did give the Celtic players kudos for their win in the end begrudgingly. The goalkeeper still believes the Bosnian club have enough about them to come back from the 3-1 deficit in the second leg.

“But in fairness to them, they kept the ball well in possession and I congratulate them on winning.”

“Of course it will be very difficult for us at Celtic, but you never know what can happen in football. We will certainly not surrender.

“I feel sorry we could not do more for the fans because they provided a tremendous atmosphere.

“We have to acknowledge Celtic are a really good team. Their second goal stunned us.

“But we are proud of our efforts because we gave our all.”

It was a lightning bolt from young Mikey Johnstone who set Celtic on their way followed by a cool finish from Edouard and then a cheeky backheel by Scott Sinclair who had come on as a second half sub.

Celtic are comfortable in the tie and will want to put the game to bed early next week at Celtic Park
