CELTIC look like they’ve dodged a major bullet by not signing former target Moses Odubajo in the summer after talks with the player and his representatives.

The defender joined Celtic at their Austrian training camp during pre-season with Odubajo speaking with Brendan Rodgers about a potential move to Celtic.

Moses was just coming off a two-year injury which has seen his career stall hugely. The right back didn’t re-sign with Hull after moving to the club for £3.5million and it looked like a Parkhead deal was seriously talked about.

After a couple of days with Celtic at their pre-season camp, the defender left and went back to England to try and get fit for the season.

After speaking with the right back, Brendan Rodgers decided against making a move for the 25-year-old.

Moses won a move to Brentford in August and had to get back to full fitness before getting into the team. However, the player hasn’t had a great start to his Brentford Career.

The club is sitting 17th in the Championship and the player has only won just one game he’s started in so far.

Stats from TransferMarkt:

  • Squad: 12,
  • Starting eleven: 5,
  • Substituted in: 4,
  • On the bench: 3,
  • Injured: 7

Rodgers is desperate to get competition in for Mikael Lustig and tried in vain during the summer to find a player for the position.

It’s likely Rodgers has more targets for January, it will be interesting to see who the Irishman has in mind.
