There were many great takeaways from Celtic’s closed door game with Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon. The developmental team won 1-0 against the Chelsea under 23s and gave Neil Lennon food for thought.
However, our biggest takeaway from the game is Daniel Arzani was nowhere to be seen in the squad. With the player back on the training field, many would have expected the Australian to get some game time under his belt in the bounce game.
His absence points to the exciting possibility Neil Lennon is set to include the Manchester City youngster in the squad for the Partick Thistle game this weekend. Why else would he have been left behind?
Scott Sinclair has left the club and Lewis Morgan won’t be risked even if he’s still on the books come Saturday night. Mikey Johnston has not been able to train properly and Mohamed Elyounoussi along with Ryan Christie are unavailable.
This leaves Neil Lennon with a couple of options. Bring Arzani in from the start – or he could play Forrest on the left and bring in Maryan Shved to play.
Either option would satisfy the supporters who have been keen to see both get a start.
