Celtic have written a short statement for the media this evening urging Police Scotland to take action after players received sectarian abuse on their way into Ibrox.

The statement, which has been posted on social media by PLZ Soccer, reveals that the club has made moves already for an investigation to begin after the incident that took place and that it is completely unacceptable.

Many fans were left disgusted when these videos made their way on to social media outlets. Players were receiving abuse from a small band of Rangers supporters before Saturday’s crunch league game against Rangers, from literally just metres away.

Some of the stuff being said was just simply unacceptable and with police near the situation you were expecting some sort of action to be taken there and then.

Unfortunately, though, the club has been forced to take this action by starting an investigation. Hopefully, those involved can be found and rightfully punished for their actions on the day.
