Celtic fans have seen plenty of talent pass through the ranks at Celtic Park, and one former Hoops player is continuing to impress after securing a loan move to Olympiacos.
Luis Palma, who made the switch to the Greek giants on loan for the remainder of the season, marked his second start with a brilliant goal in their dominant 6-0 win over AEK Athens in the first leg of the Greek Cup semi-final. And, as is typical in the Celtic family, his former teammates didn’t hesitate to show their support and admiration for the Honduran talent.

Palma’s Impressive Strike
It didn’t take long for Palma to make his mark at Olympiacos. Despite only being on his second start, the Celtic winger netted a stunning goal to help his new team secure a commanding 6-0 win over AEK Athens. The Greek Cup clash was already a historic moment for Palma, but his goal truly stood out, making it clear why Olympiacos moved to bring him in on loan for the remainder of the season. It’s a testament to Palma’s mentaility that he has made an immediate impact, finding the back of the net with such a confident finish.
The goal wasn’t just important in terms of the match; it also has wider implications for Palma’s time in Greece. Olympiacos, who currently sit two points clear of AEK Athens at the top of the Greek Super League, are looking to build on last season’s third-place finish. A result like this, with players like Palma contributing, could be key to their hopes of regaining the league title and continuing their success across multiple competitions.
Celtic Players Show Support
It didn’t take long for Palma’s former Celtic teammates to jump in with their congratulations, with Paulo Bernardo leading the charge. The Hoops midfielder, who is currently with Celtic, took to social media to leave a comment under Palma’s post. His simple but effective message read: “Golazooo,” a fitting tribute to Palma’s impressive strike.
But it wasn’t just Bernardo who took time out to acknowledge Palma. Alex Valle, another former Celtic player who made the move to Serie A side Como in January, also showed his appreciation. Valle’s comment further demonstrates the strong bond between former and current Celtic players, and it’s clear that the Hoops family remains close-knit, no matter where they end up.

A Bright Future Ahead for Palma
Luis Palma’s rise to prominence in Greece is no surprise to those who watched him during his time at Celtic. While his stay in Glasgow was relatively short, his raw talent and potential were undeniable.
At Olympiacos, Palma now has the opportunity to show what he can do on with consistent gametime, and his early performances suggest he’s more than capable of making a significant impact. His goal against AEK Athens is just the beginning, and as he continues to settle into his new surroundings, there’s no telling how far he can go.

Final Thoughts
Luis Palma’s tribute from Paulo Bernardo and Alex Valle highlights the strong relationships Celtic players maintain, even when they move on to new challenges. While some fans may miss seeing Palma in a Hoops shirt, his success at Olympiacos is a testament to his talent, and Celtic supporters will no doubt continue to cheer him on from a distance. His goal in the Greek Cup is a reminder of the potential he holds, and it’s exciting to think about what comes next in Palma’s career.
Yeah i watched his goal thr other night, it was a really cool strike from around the 18yrd box, he then curls in a beauty, which found the inside of the net.
I’m sure it was watching the Liverpool highlights, they scored a very similar goal to Palmas goal, only their goal hit the far post and into the goal, but that goal was classed as a master class in finishing, if anything Palmas goal was a better finish
But we all know that he has that kind of wonder finish in him, he just didn’t show it often enough, if he had he’d still be at celtic just now, looking forward to winning a treble with celtic.
All the best to him in Greece playing for Olympiacos 👍👍
