KRIS COMMONS rarely needs an invitation to have a go at his old club but Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien’s performance on Sunday gave him ample reason to stick the boot in.

Commons, now writing in the media, has blasted both centre-backs for their Rugby Park display which contributed to the champions dropping two points.

Ajer and Jullien found it difficult to come to grips with the physicality shown by Kilmarnock target man Kabamba; time and time again they would lose out in the air and lose balls they shouldn’t have.

It was a bad game on both their parts but Kris Commons has chosen not to isolate this game but has instead indulged in some mud throwing.

“If you were compiling a list of the best centre-backs to have played for Celtic over the past 20 years, the names of Jullien and Ajer wouldn’t even make it into the top 10.” Commons told SunSport.

“When you consider just how much is at stake this season, that’s a huge problem which I’ve got no doubt Lennon will be looking to address.

“Virgil van Dijk will always be viewed as the gold standard. He cruised through the SPFL Premiership for a couple of years and has since gone on to become the best centre-half in world football.

“I played in a Celtic team with Van Dijk and Jason Denayer, the Belgian who has just helped Lyon knock out Juventus to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.”

It was a bad day at the office for both players who will need to do better going forward. Both have played their part in Celtic’s success over the past season or so.

Commons throwing them under the bus isn’t surprising.
