Celtic duo James Forrest and Greg Taylor have both dropped out of Steve Clarke’s up-and-coming Scotland International squad.

The two players were picked as part of a 26-man squad that will take on a triple-header of World Cup qualifiers against Denmark, Moldova and Austria, at the beginning of September.

However, with both having their injury issues in recent weeks, which saw them missing the weekend’s derby fixture against Rangers, they have taken the decision to withdraw from the squad.

Fellow Celtic teammates Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie, and David Turnbull will remain with Clarke’s squad.

This will likely come as a blow to the Scotland manager. Although neither player has been regulars in the side under the former Killie boss, they have both featured at certain points and add in the injury worries that Clarke currently faces; he could be doing the two.

You would imagine that boss Ange Postecoglou will be the opposite as it allows two first-team players to rest and recuperate over the international break.
