According to reports, Celtic are ‘eager’ to re-sign Hearts youngster Aaron Hickey.

The youngster played for Celtic’s developmental side during the 17/18 season after originally moving from Hearts. The left-back then headed back to Tynecastle, realising his development was better served with a side who wanted to give him first team football.

Hickey, 17, has caught the eye of many scouts and has been a stand out in a poor Hearts side. With Premier League clubs circling it appears Celtic want him back at the club.

Head of youth development, Chris McCart would surely have a big hand in any move the club would make but with Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli in the position already – the defender could hit the same wall which made him move back to Hearts.

“Celtic are eager to secure his services – along with Palace” Alex Wood from The Star writes.

This would be a move that many of the Celtic support would see as a signing that’s not going to be impactful for the rest of the season and that’s what many are looking for.

Celtic need to dig in and make sure they win nine in a row. Signing 17-year-olds for the future is all well and good but we need players for now.
