Reports from Japan this evening have stated that Celtic are edging ever closer to completing the transfer of Japanese trio Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate.

As reported by reliable Japanese-based journalist Dan Orlowitz, the deals for Maeda and Ideguchi are in the ‘final countdown’, with the duo having received their work permits and flying into Europe to complete a medical ahead of the move to Parkhead.

Reo Hatate also appears to be close to joining the club, with the midfielder expected to fly over to Glasgow in the New Year.

Rumours over the last month have continued to build, but Ange Postecoglou appears to have gotten his men from the J-League.

After the success of Kyogo Furuhashi, there is genuine excitement about the three players with Postecoglou’s knowledge of the league potentially playing to our advantage.

It will also come as a boost to the 56-year old that his wish has been granted, and the trio looks like they will arrive at the earliest point possible in the window, giving them time to settle in during the winter break.

Many have called for this sort of preparation heading into the January window, including Postecoglou. So those involved in the deal deserve huge credit for their part to play once finalised.

Fingers crossed, we fans won’t have to wait too long before we see Maeda, Ideguchi and Hatate pull on the Green and White Hoops.
