Celtic aren’t messing around when it comes to right back targets. Over the weekend it has emerged that Jack Stacey’s likely destination is Bournemouth with a reported bid coming in from the Premier League club for the Luton defender.

With a deal for Jack currently looking unlikely for the bhoys it appears as if their attention has wandered elsewhere. Reports today in the Examiner claim Celtic rate Tommy at around the £2.5m mark and are keen to bring the Huddersfield star into the fold.

Smith, 27, was once part of Manchester City’s academy before being released and picked up by Huddersfield who have had the player on the books now for seven years. Smith has over 200 top flight appearances with the English side and 39 came in the Premier League.

Mirror reporter Henry Armstrong has gone one further this morning and has claimed Celtic are ‘edging closer’ to agreeing a fee for Tommy.
