According to reports in France, Celtic have enquired about former AC Milan front man M’Baye Niang.

The Senegal international currently plays in France for Rennes but was loaned out by the French club last season to Saudi Arabia.

Niang, 26, is expected to leave Rennes this summer and according to Footmercato – Celtic are one of three clubs interested in his services.

The publication writes; Celtic, Anderlecht and Nottingham Forest have all enquired about the player in recent times.

Niang has got about a bit since leaving Milan back in 2018. Torinio paid over £10m for him from the Italian club and Rennes paid over £13m to take the player to France [TransferMarkt]. However, his stock has fallen dramatically since joining Rennes.

TransferMarkt have Niang’s value sitting at around £4m. Would he be a good investment for that price?

Celtic can’t afford to pay anywhere near his last two transfer fees to land the striker but could look to cut a deal – perhaps on loan.

Niang still has two years left on his Rennes deal.

Celtic will likely be looking for another striker to come into the club on top of Furuhashi because Odsonne Edouard is still heavily tipped to leave.
