Celtic’s Europa League opponents have not enjoyed their 2018/2019 season so far. Last night they lost the first leg of their Copa Del Rey quarter-final against Getafe. The reports of unrest are backed up by poor domestic results.

Valencia sits 9th in La Liga but are only six points off the drop zone. They under-performed again away to Getafe last night in front of 7000 fans. Their allocation for the clash at Celtic Park shows what their fans think of their current team.

Last night, despite the better of the possession they could only muster two shots on target as they fell to a 1-0 defeat. The Copa Del Rey might not be their priority this season, but results will make or break their confidence.

While Celtic have strengthened their strike force during this window, Valencia lost their 30 million pound striker Michy Batshuayi when he was recalled to Chelsea. Celtic fans will be hoping Brendan Rodgers can still bring in at least one defender before the window closes and before their next European legs.

On their day Els Taronges is still a dangerous animal. Celtic fans will hope that the struggling La Liga side woes will continue. A sold out Mestalla can intimidate any team.

  1. Let me guess, the only way Valencia can make money is selling players and continued appearences in the European cups. So they may settle for a small defeat or hard fought draw in Scotland and pump Celtic at Batman stadium as usual.
At least I’m not getting carried away. Celtic may procced if they can beat Valencia over both legs. So not certain then. See how this year pans out.
