CELTIC are finally stepping up their efforts to replace Stuart Armstrong, months after the player left for Southampton.

The bhoys scouting team have been told to source players for January after a less than ideal summer window.

During the summer, Celtic lost Patrick Roberts, Moussa Dembele and Stuart Armstrong without replacing any of them.

Celtic are currently struggling creatively and that is a big reason why.

However, Celtic are reportedly looking to remedy this as they scout 24-year-old Wigan midfielder, Nick Powell.

The Championship midfielder has started seven games this season already, scoring three goals and four assists so far.

The former Manchester United man has been lighting up the English Championship with Wigan but Celtic look set to test his resolve by offering him a deal this January.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and will be free to talk to any club come the start of next year.

The player who Manchester United paid over £6million for could be a bargain buy up there with bringing Joe Ledley in back in Neil Lennon’s time.

This certainly could be a player who could make the difference.

  1. Yes go get him now Nick Powell would be a great buy,but lets go and get another CH jan 2019 just in case we go through all that again MD and DB.
We can bring in new players now and i think we should do that now,and ditch the dead wood send the message out to SG we are strong and ready…………

  2. Wrong, wrong wrong! We did Not lose Patrick Roberts!
We did replace him! Paddy was not ours to lose. But even though, we brought in the young Australian kid from the same club, Manchester City!
Dembele and Armstrong were always going to be a problem with their infantile antics. If a player doesn’t want to play for your club, you don’t exactly “lose” them when they are sent out!
