Celtic are reportedly keeping a close eye on Tyrhys Dolan’s situation at Blackburn Rovers, with the winger yet to agree fresh terms and now entering the final months of his current deal. The 23-year-old, who was previously a target for the Hoops before Jota’s January return, is once again under consideration following the Portuguese star’s long-term injury. [TCW]

Jota, who rejoined Celtic earlier this year, is sidelined after undergoing surgery for a cruciate ligament issue and isn’t expected back until the New Year. Brendan Rodgers has confirmed the club will be active in the market for wide players this summer — and Dolan’s name is firmly back in the mix.

Dolan enjoyed a strong campaign with Blackburn, making 47 appearances across all competitions. His tally of seven goals and six assists helped keep Rovers in the hunt for a play-off place, ultimately missing out by a narrow margin. Known for his direct running and work rate, Dolan’s playing style could work brilliantly in the Hoops attack.

Crucially, Celtic’s chances of securing the winger may be boosted by cross-border transfer rules. While Dolan could previously have commanded a fee of up to £10 million while under contract, a move to Scotland would only require a compensation fee due to his age — making this a potentially shrewd piece of business for Celtic.

Competition for Dolan’s signature is expected, with reports suggesting Rangers have also expressed interest. However, Celtic’s bigger platform and clearer pathway into the first team could give them an edge in negotiations.

Dolan came through the academies at Manchester City and Preston before making his name at Blackburn. At 23, with over 100 senior appearances under his belt, he fits the mould of a player still developing but ready to make an impact — something that Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to add to his squad this summer.
