BRENDAN RODGERS says he expects a response from his defenders after he criticised their efforts in Lithuania on Thursday night.

He also ruled out Jack Hendry for Sunday’s clash with Hamilton at Celtic Park.

With Celtic already thin on fit defenders, the Irishman also revealed Jozo Simunovic will undergo a scan today to see the extent of the injury he picked up against Suduva.

Jozo limped off the field in the 1-1 draw and has had plenty of injury troubles in the past which is a massive concern for the Celtic manager.

If Jozo is ruled out that leaves Ajer as our only fit centre back if we pretend Boyata is telling the truth. It’s likely Lustig could deputise in Jozo’s absence unless Marvin Compper can be found.

It’s not all doom and gloom though, there’s good news on the attacking front with Odsonne Edouard expected to be back in contention for Celtic Thursday night for their home tie against Suduva.

Edouard has not been seen since before Celtic’s trip to Athens after pulling up the day before the Champions League qualifier.

Will Brendan Rodgers finally unleash his two strikers again which started to pay dividends early in pre-season?
