Ola Solbakken is set to go under the knife, with his club unsure how long he’ll be out for. The winger has suffered an ankle injury and is set to face a spell on the sidelines. [Daily Record]

Celtic were offered the player last summer but opted against signing the winger. Heading into the summer window, it was reported that Celtic had identified Solbakken as an alternative to Jota, with his future still undecided.

With his injury, he could see any move fail to surface, with clubs not willing to take the risk on injured players. He’ll be hoping he can recover in time for the summer window so that he can get his well-deserved move.

The Norwegian league has just started, with the Arctic side team having played just four league games.

Reports on Tuesday morning suggest that the player may spend next season in Glasgow, with Celtic set to trigger the clause in his contract and Benfica willing to let the Portuguese star leave. If the move does indeed happen, Celtic won’t feel the impact of Solbakken’s injury.
