CELTIC have until tomorrow to register their squad for the first Champions League qualifier against Alashkert.

This means if Celtic don’t manage to sign anyone before the UEFA deadline they will have to call upon their wild card pick which can be initiated 24 hours before the game kicks off.

Celtic have been chasing a number of targets with John McGinn being at the focal point of many talks at the club.

Should Celtic manage to convince Hibernian to sell the player after the UEFA deadline, John could slip in as the club’s wild card choice.

It’s thought the deadline is not entering Celtic’s mind as they look to do business this summer. The feeling is Celtic have more than enough to beat Alashkert over two legs.

The ties will get tougher if Celtic get through this first round and may need reinforcements then.

All Celtic’s World Cup stars will not be available for the game with Lustig and Boyata still at the tournament while Rogic and Gamboa have a mandatory summer break before rejoining the squad.

  1. Apart from McGinn who are Celtic looking at? from the minute Rodgers walked in the door we needed 2 CBs and a right back we are now 25 months down the line and have earned millions yet are not linked with anyone. We are weaker than we were at the end of the season and appear to have sold our unsaleable, ‘one of our own’, only genuine class player we have. What is going on? Is this our ‘Old firm’ board conceding Europe before as ball is kicked to save money and giving Sevco every chance to catch up as we will need them in the future as we are not going to try to qualify again for the CL. Is there any point to Celtic if we are return to the Old Firm duopoly for the next hundred years. Have a clubs supporters ever been as depressed while double treble winners?
