Celtic supporters made their feelings known in dramatic fashion at Dens Park this afternoon, delaying the start of the Dundee vs Celtic match with a coordinated protest aimed squarely at the club’s board.
Just as the game was set to begin, hundreds of balls were thrown onto the pitch from the away end. Play was halted before a ball had even been kicked, as players from both sides helped clear the debris to allow the match to start.
While the balls were being cleared, the away section erupted into chants of “Sack the board” which carried around the away section. Chief executive Michael Nicholson and financial director Chris McKay were both present and could only watch as supporters voiced their anger.
Celtic Fan Protests
The protest comes during one of the most turbulent spells between Celtic’s hierarchy and the fanbase in recent memory.
The “Not Another Penny” campaign, launched by the Celtic Fans Collective, has already seen fans call for a boycott of official club spending until February. The campaign accuses the board of repeated failures in Europe, uninspired transfer windows, and a lack of meaningful engagement with supporters.
The choice of protest today was symbolic. The act of throwing balls onto the pitch reflected the growing feeling among many supporters that the Celtic board has been “dropping the ball” for too long when it comes to footballing ambition and leadership.
It follows weeks of tension, boycotts and banners calling for change. Last week, fans clashed with the club’s leadership after what was described as a patronising and tone-deaf meeting with supporters’ representatives.
The latest merchandise launch, which coincided with the start of the boycott, only deepened divisions further.
For Brendan Rodgers and his players, the disruption wasn’t ideal, but fans have only so many ways to make it clear they want change.
The message from the stands was loud and clear: many of the Celtic support has lost patience, and the boardroom unrest shows no sign of easing anytime soon.

All you fans that attend the games, please do more. There are ex pats and fans world wide that love this club and all we can do is stop buying merch and spending on tv streaming.

This is the worst Celtic team in living memory but still these players should be battering the terrible teams inches Spfl and European minnows.
The fact they are not proves the manager is clueless.
The stupid money spent on Idah and the Belgian waffle proves the scouting team is not fit for purpose.
Heads need to roll at every level from the owner down to the subs bench. FFS I am begging you fans in Glasgow make these Muppets pay for how they have reduced our once proud club to a team that every European minnow would be praying to draw in a European qualifier or group.
It’s down to the management team this team should be running all over every single team in this league, yet here we are getting pumped by a team sitting 2nd bottom, Rodgers now looks like an amateur I’ve seen better tactics at a school match, it’s embarrassing being a Celtic fan at the moment and as for the fan protest lol grow up ffs, child like behaviour from a bunch of spoilt brats

We havent kicked a ball all season and thats because the quality isnt there, either in the first XI or the squad.
Led by a fraud of a captain who seems to think that pointing and passing sideways & backwards will produce goals.
Obviously the board should shoulder the blame for the poor quality of our squad but what was the point of the pathetic pre-match protest.
Was this orchestrated by the Celtic Fan Collective? , or was it, as I suspect, the usual GB suspects who cant resist making themselves the centre of attention.
