Celtic put Partick Thistle to the sword last night as they booked their place into the League cup semi final.

The bhoys were simply irresistible and there was one man leading the charge. That man was John Guidetti!

Since coming to Celtic, the big Swede has been nothing short of a revelation but last night rubber stamped the fact, Celtic fans who have been crying out for a hero have finally found one! Who would have guessed it would have come in the form of a Swedish striker.

We have struggled for goals from our frontmen since the departure of Hooper to Norwich. Kris Commons had to carry the team on his shoulders last season, leading the scoring charts for the club. This new bhoy seems to have it all, he has an eye for goal and he certainly can hit a free kick!

Celtic fans are clamouring for the 22 year-old to be signed to a permanent deal as soon as possible. His contract with Man City is up at the end of this season, which means he can talk to clubs in January. Celtic must make sure they are at the forefront of the talks to convince the striker that his immediate future lies with Celtic.

The sales pitch speaks for itself. If he does stay beyond this season it’s very likely that John will have 60,000 people chanting his name on an electric Champions League night at Celtic Park. Now, if you love your football and it’s clear that this bhoy does then it could sway his decision.

When asked about his future John wasn’t giving anything away.

I try to take one game at a time and now I am thinking about Saturday.

‘I want to give 100 per cent every game for Celtic.

‘When my agent comes to me and says: “Okay John, this is what’s going to happen” then I listen.

‘I have full trust in the people working with me and the people that help me. That leaves me to do my absolute best just to perform on the pitch.

‘I just want to focus and we’ll see what happens when it happens.”

Guidetti’s second goal of the night.
