Celtic supporters heading to Hampden Park for the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone on Easter Sunday could be set for a new ticketing system with the introduction of digital tickets via an app.

While Celtic and St Johnstone have yet to confirm their ticketing arrangements, signs point to a major shift.
Aberdeen, who will face Hearts in the other semi-final a day earlier, have already informed their supporters that their Hampden tickets will be digital and accessible via the Hampden Park App.
The update on Aberdeen’s official website explains the process:
- All tickets will be digital and accessed through the Hampden Park App.
- Fans must purchase their tickets through the club.
- Once downloaded, tickets will be visible on the app from early April and will become active between 7-10 days before the match.
- Supporters can store multiple tickets on a single account.
This represents a significant change for Celtic fans, who have traditionally used physical tickets for Hampden matches. While digital ticketing has been rolled out across Scotland, particularly in the lower leagues, this will be a first for many supporters attending a major cup semi-final.
Given that Aberdeen’s semi-final match will use this system, it is highly likely that Celtic’s allocation for Hampden will follow suit. However, fans will await official confirmation from the club.
This move follows a broader trend in modern ticketing. While it may be a smooth transition for some, others may need guidance on how to access and transfer tickets ahead of the big occasion.
With tickets yet to go on sale, Celtic fans should keep an eye out for an official club announcement in the coming days.
Celtic have been contacted for confirmation.
